Utility Bill Round-Up Program
City Offers Round-Up Program to Benefit Youth Activity Grant Program
The Belle Plaine Park Board and City Council have been active this summer, pursuing funding opportunities for youth recreational and community programming. In August the Council established guidelines for a Youth Activity Grant Program, where general funds are allocated towards grants assisting in registration costs for youth activities and programs for income eligible families, as well as supply costs for Arts in the Park and bike helmets for safety camps. An additional funding opportunity, the Round-Up Program, was authorized by the Council in September. The Round-Up Program gives utility billing customers the option of "rounding up" their utility bill to the nearest $1 increment, with the extra money going directly towards the Youth Activity Grant Program. For example, if the total on a utility bill was $42.21, a customer participating in the Round-Up Program would have $.96 added to the bill, which would directly support the Grant Program.
Once a user opts-in their bill will automatically be rounded each month until such a time that the account closes or the account holder directs the city to remove them from the Program. For questions regarding the Round-Up Program, please contact City Hall at (952)873-5553.
Funding provided through the Round-Up Program will help offset supply costs associated with programs such as "Arts in the Park", which had great participation this summer.
