The City of Belle Plaine's Planning division of the Community Development Department manages the growth and development of the community by administering land use regulations outlined in various guiding documents and as stated in the Belle Plaine City Code. The department coordinates the application process for zoning changes, conditional use permits, variances, annexations and subdivisions.

The deadline for all planning condsiderations is the Planning Commission meeting date prior. The Planning Commission meets the second Monday of the month.
Destination Belle Plaine 2040
Destination Belle Plaine 2040 is the City's 2040 Comprehensive Plan update. Destination 2040’s vision is “a perpetually sustainable, complete, and livable City for all people, seasons, and generations”. Destination 2040 is based on five desired outcomes: stewardship, long-term economic prosperity, social equity, livability, and sustainability.
