Xcel Energy Distribution Pole Replacement Project: 4/26/2021 – 8/6/2021
Michels Power, a contractor of Xcel Energy, will be in the City of Belle Plaine replacing Xcel Energy distribution poles in the Spring/Summer of 2021. There are approximately 400 distribution poles within the city of Belle Plaine needing replacement due to the structural integrity of the poles. Michels Power will begin replacing poles starting the last week of April and continuing through early August. Michels Power will be calling in locates prior to replacing these poles. For all property owners questioning when their pole(s) will be replaced, the best identifier is a colored ribbon around the pole and flags around the base of the pole. If you see these indicators, it is the intention of Michels Power to replace that pole within 14 days. Upon completion of the pole replacement Michels Power will schedule any necessary restoration with Q3 Contracting, They are Xcel Energy’s restoration contractor. Please reach out to Xcel Energy, Community Relations Manager, Trisha Duncan with any questions. Trisha can be reached at 612-227-8880 or email@example.com.
City of Belle Plaine Project Updates
2021 Street & Utility Improvement Project
HERE IS WHAT’S COMING UP…
The temporary grass has emerged and is providing cover until the permanent seeding and restoration occurs in late August. While this growth can be unsightly, it provides required erosion control during the interim period. With dry conditions forecast to persist for at least the next 10 days, the contractor will monitor the height of the grass but will refrain from mowing to preserve the canopy. The temporary grass will be removed and the ground re-worked prior to placing the permanent seed and mulch in late August.
Remaining Concrete Walk and Alley Work:
Frontier Communications is now actively relocating several utility pedestals that will allow for the completion of the sidewalk. A recent severe storm that formed quickly over Belle Plaine produced hail that damaged some of the new pedestrian ramps. Damaged panels will be removed and replaced when the concrete crew is onsite to complete the walk the weeks of July 19 and July 26. The alley gravel based and paving is also planned to be completed by the end of July.
Permanent mailboxes have been installed and use of the temporary ones discontinued.
