Recycling

Refuse haulers are required to pick up recyclables.  Contact your refuse haulers for specific details. 

Grass Clippings

The City accepts leaves and grass clippings at its compost site located on County Road 6/State Street, on the west boundary of the City.  Hours of the compost site are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  No branches, tree limbs or shrubs allowed. Grass clippings, only. 

YARD WASTE DISPOSAL

Additional yard waste such as tree branches, limbs and the like can be taken to NRG Processing Solutions located at 14800 Johnson Memorial Hwy. (Hwy. 169, SW intersection of 169 and CR 14, 2 miles south of Hwy 41). The contact number is 952-445-2139.

Annual City-Wide Recycle/Clean Up Day

The City of Belle Plaine and Belle Plaine Lions Club co-sponsor the annual city-wide recycle/clean up day held on the last Saturday in April.  Fees are charged for the disposal of refuse.  No charge for recyclables.  Fee Schedule for Waste Disposal and Recycling.




SCOTT COUNTY RECYCLING AND HAZARDOUS WASTE

The Scott County Environmental Health Department operates the Household Hazardous Waste located at 588 Country Trail East, Jordan, Minnesota. The Household Hazardous Waste facility accepts unused portions of the following products:

ACCEPTED

Adhesives
Fluorescent Lamps
Paint Stripper
Pesticides
Furniture Polish
Household Chemicals - oven cleaner, drain cleaner, etc.
Gasoline, Oil, Anti-freeze
Aerosol Spray Products
Pool Chemicals
Charcoal Lighter Fluid Paint, Stain, Varnish Weed Killer
Yard Chemicals Mercury - Fluorescent tubes, thermometers. Automotive Products
Solvents - fingernail polish remover, kerosene Wood Preservatives or bleaches  

To protect the environment, do not dispose of these items in the trash, sewer or on the ground.  If you cannot use it up yourself, then try to give it away or store it properly at home for later use.  Bring unused portions to the Scott County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility for proper disposal.

Remember, there's no charge, but it's not free.  This service costs Scott County an average of $0.38 per pound.  Be sure to bring a photo ID (driver's license) with you. 

ELECTRONICS

Electronics such as televisions, stereo or computer components, are accepted at the HHW facility for a fee of $0.35 per pound.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED

The Scott County HHW facility will NOT accept the following items or materials:  appliances, asbestos, automotive batteries, explosives, medical wastes, radioactive waste, tires, farm pesticides or business waste.

Hours of Operation

Wednesday:  12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The HHW Facility will be closed on holiday weekends. 

Directions

The HHW Facility is located in the center of Scott County on Highway 282, just one-half mile west of the intersection of County Road 17 and Minnesota Highways 13 and 282.  The facility is just west of the Scott County Highway Garage complex on Highway 282.   

From Belle Plaine, head north Highway 169 to Jordan, then east on Highway 282 to the HHW facility.
