The winter weather imposes many obstacles for both residents & City staff. It is important to remember City policies & procedures regarding snow & ice removal.

Most people don’t draw the connection, but it’s definitely an important one. Many don't realize that using salt has many negative consequences and isn't a good environmental option.
Thursday, November 29th starting at 6pm Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive at Townsend Park for visits with children. They will be handing out candy canes for everyone! Bring your camera for pictures. You will also be able to enjoy cookies and cider, music by a local choir, and a chance to win one of 10 turkeys donated by Coborn’s (must be present to win). The evening will be capped off by a tree lighting ceremony at approximately 7pm in Townsend Park.
The Belle Plaine Chamber of Commerce will be holding a candidate forum on Tuesday, October 30th from 7:00 – 8:00pm at the Belle Plaine Government Center. Please plan to arrive by 6:50pm. The event will be open to the public, as well as recorded for later viewing.

The Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Annual Trick or Treat event which will allow trick or treaters to visit participating Belle Plaine businesses and organizations.
The Primary Election for Federal, State and County offices will be held August 14, 2012. Residents within the Belle Plaine City limits vote at City Hall, located at 218 North Meridian Street in the Council Chambers. Remember, for a Primary election you need to vote down a party line otherwise the ballot machine will reject the ballot and you will have to correct the ballot. A sample ballot is published in the newspaper and is posted at City Hall.
The Belle Plaine Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) is seeking volunteers for the community wide assistance program on Saturday, July 28, 2012 (July 29, 2012 as reserve day). Projects have been selected based on need, geographic location and income. This is a wonderful opportunity to help those in our community who require assistance as well as increase the character of the City of Belle Plaine.
