The City of Belle Plaine's Planning Division manages the growth and development of the community by administering land use regulations outlined in various guiding documents and as stated in the Belle Plaine City Code. The department coordinates the application process for zoning changes, conditional use permits, variances, annexations and subdivisions.

The deadline for all planning condsiderations is the Planning Commission meeting date prior. The Planning Commission meets the first Wednesday of the month following the first Monday. For example, If you would like to be on the March agenda, the application is due the date of the February meeting.

2007 Comprehensive Plan Update- Preliminary Draft Documents

The City has contracted with the Municipal Development Group from New Prague to assist in the preparation of the 2007 Comprehensive Plan Update, as required by the Metropolitan Council.

The City of Belle Plaine has submitted the preliminary draft of the Comprehensive Plan to the Metropolitan Council in June 2007 for thier review. Once the Metropolitan Council has reviewed the plan and provided the document is completed to their requirements, the City will need to formally adopt the plan.
