The Scott County Library System is a service-oriented network of community libraries whose mission is to fulfill the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of the community through the acquisiton, organization, access and guidance to a wide variety of library materials and data.
The Belle Plaine Branch of the Scott County Library System is happy to be a vital part of the local community. The Belle Plaine Community Library opened in its current location in May 1995. We strive to support the needs of a wide range of library customers. The library stocks large print books, audio books on tape or CD, music and a wide variety of books, magazines, videos, DVD, E-Books and newspapers. In addition, the county-wide system is part of the greater metropolitan system - Metropolitian Library Service Agency (MELSA) - which allows library cardholders access to nearby Hennepin, Carver and other metropolitan county libraries, as well as Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Libraries. A Scott County library card may be used at most public libraries in Minnesota. The Scott County Library System also supports a collection of online resources that can be accessed in the Library or in many cases, from your home computer. Additional resources available for public use include a high-tech meeting room, Internet Workstations, Children's Workstations and Word Processors.
The Summer Reading Program is one of the library services that we are happy to provide. Through the generous cooperation of Belle Plaine businesses, individual donors, the Friends of the Library, MELSA and Scott County, we are able to provide a positive pastime to the young readers in Belle Plaine. During the summer of 2006, over 300 enthusiastic young readers joined the Summer Reading Program.
