Belle Plaine Economic Development Authority
The Belle Plaine Economic Development Authority was established in 1990. There are seven members on the EDA consisting of two City Council liaisons, one Chamber of Commerce representative, and four at-large members. The seven-member board, serving six-year staggered terms, develops strategies to strengthen commercial-industrial activitiy within the city. The EDA has been instrumental in defining tax incentive programs and reviews requests for tax increment financing, tax abatement and other financial assistance programs. The EDA takes a proactive approach to development and redevelopment.

Belle Plaine Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission consisting of five members with one City Council liason, four at-large members and one alternate member. Commissioners serve four-year staggered terms. The commission assists the City Council in reviewing and analyzing development proposals and in enforcing the City's zoning and subdivision ordinances. The Planning Commission prepares and maintains the City's Comprehensive Plan, conducts public hearings and makes recommendations to the City Council on proposed changes affecting zoning and land uses within the City and also considers site plan reviews and conditional use permits. Commission members also serve as the Zoning Board of Appeals and Adjustments. Recommendations are made to the City Council by the Commission and the City Council makes final decisions concerning planning consideration applications.

Belle Plaine Park Board
Established in 1997 for the purpose of making recommendations to the City Council on policies, programs and development actions related to parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation services. The Board is composed of five members and up to two alternates who serve staggered three-year terms.

Belle Plaine Housing and Redevelopment Authority
The Belle Plaine Housing and Redevelopment Authority was established in 1991 to assist with housing needs of the City as outlined in Minnesota State Statutes. The five-member board consists of the members of the City Council with the exception of the Mayor.
The Belle Plaine Housing and Redeveloment Authority conducts its annual meeting on the third Tuesday of January at 5:30 p.m. and may meet throughout the year as activity necessitates, in the Council Chambers of the Government Center.
