Welcome,As Mayor, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to one of the true You will find friendly residents, business owners, and a very professional city staff to assist you when visiting. Belle Plaine is located conveniently between Minneapolis and Mankato which makes the City a perfect place to experience the “small town” feel without sacrificing the nearby “big city amenities”. The City offers a quality school system, vast open park land, walking and biking trails, wide streets, municipal swimming pool, recreational programs and most importantly, a very safe place to raise your family. There is an array of services available including: medical, retail, numerous service businesses, as well as several church congregations to meet your needs. As you will see upon your tour of the City, we are very fortunate to have a historic central business district paired with a progressive highway commercial/industrial corridor which is currently experiencing exciting development. Your tour of the City would not be complete without checking out two very significant historical sites in town: The “Hooper Bowler Hillstrom House” is the site of the famous two story outhouse which is believed to be the only one of its kind. The other site is the “Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration” which was built in the Carpenter Gothic architecture style and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you would like additional information on these historic sites, you may find it on this website under the “Visitors” tab. You can also call the City Hall at (952)873-5553 and the staff will be available to assist you. I look forward to your visit and invite you to spend a day or a lifetime with us! Sincerely, Christopher G. Meyer, Mayor |
