"Check It Out" Library Weekly Article

Over the weekend, I did a fair amount of reading. I spent a lot of time on a book but I also read a lot of other things from a large number of sources. The variety keeps things interesting. One memorable thing popped up and today when I tried to find it again, I could not find the article that I had read. The article was about a woman on her 104th birthday. She was asked what she felt was important in life. Her reply was something like, “If you feel that you are too old to learn something new, you are wrong and you will waste another day of your precious life.”. It is hard to disagree with that. Your library is filled with things to learn and things to know. Challenge yourself today. Do not wait to your 104th birthday to regret opportunities that are gone.
This past week, we lost a popular author of children's books. Maurice Sendak passed away at age eighty three. If you do not recognize the author's name, I suspect the title “Where The Wild Things Are” might be awarded some recognition. If your young readers have not read Mr. Sendak's books, you may wish to give him a try. The following URL with some interesting embedded links to follow, will tell you more. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/09/books/maurice-sendak-childrens-author-dies-at-83.html?_r=1 We can help you find his books. If you'd like to view this article on an internet station a your library, we would gladly help you to do so.
Our summer schedule will soon be upon us. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, we will be closed on Saturdays.
