mayor tom meger welcomes you to belle plaine
Dear Friends of Belle Plaine,
Welcome and THANK YOU for choosing Belle Plaine as your hometown. Belle Plaine overlooks the Minnesota River Valley, which provides the opportunity for scenic building lots and offers many recreational activities.
Our town also provides residents and visitors with wide streets, many beautiful parks, a great school district, a vast amount of civic and social clubs, golf course, churches and vibrant commercial district.
Belle Plaine, part of Scott County, and one the fastest growing counties in the nation, has experienced many changes related to growth, such as new roads and the expansion of city utilities. The long anticapted interchange at Highway 25 and 169 on the northeast boundary of Belle Plaine opened in June 2007. This new interchange provides safe access for motorists.
Our city is also pleased with the new, expansive Minnesota River bridge on our north boundary that opened in November 2006. The new bridge provides two 12-foot lanes, 10-foot shoulders and 10-foot pedestrian trail on the east side, along with decorative lights that match our downtown lights. The bridge approach has two concrete monuments and lookout areas.
New home construction continues at a favorable pace and Belle Plaine's new school, Oakcrest Element, in nearly completed.
We are very proud of our fine city. Again, thank you for your interest in our community.
Tom Meger
Mayor of Belle Plaine
