The Belle Plaine Community Theater calls itself the "Belle Players." The Group was organized in 1993. Its mission is "To provide creative experiences for all ages and to allow for the enjoyment of the artistic accomplishments of its participants." The "Belle Players" is affliated with Belle Plaine Community Services who act as its fiscal agent. Since its inception, the Belle Plaine Community Theater has offered a variety of productions including musicals.
Each production offers experiences that include directing, acting, set design, lighting, costumes and publicity. In addition, the group involves itself in other activities that support other community events. The "Belle Players" have organized a cooperative effort with the Belle Plaine School District to provide storage space for sets and scenery. We constructed a dressing room complete with mirrors, dressing rooms and bathroom facilities.
The Belle Player's have performed numerous plays throughout our ten years. Some of the names of the plays include: "Oklahoma", "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers", "More Than Meets The Eye", "Fruitcakes", "Bye Bye Birdie", "A Holiday To Remember", "Down Home" (A Variety Show Performed at Bar-B-Que Days), "The Gift of the Magi", "Faith County", "The Little Angel", "Twas The Night Before Columbus Day...I Mean Christmas", "The Odd Couple" (Female Version), "Lethal Lecture", "No Sooner Won Than Wed", "Li'l Abner", "Wagons Wheels West", "Christmas Attitudes", "All Because of Agatha", "The Best Christmas Pagent Ever", "Wash Your Troubles Away", "Scrooge Has Left The Building" and the latest "Nusense."
